Buying a house is one of the biggest financial decisions you will make. Here are three things you should expect from your agent every step of the way.
Straight answers about condition
Photos hide a lot. Your agent should tell you what to look for on the roof, HVAC, plumbing, electrical and foundation, and should help you decide when to bring in an inspector or a contractor. That advice protects you from expensive surprises. See our guide to move-in ready homes and fixer-uppers.
A plan for winning without overpaying
In a competitive market, your agent should help you build an offer on price, terms and certainty, and should tell you where your limit is. Winning at any price is not winning.
Loyalty to your interests
Your agent should disclose any interest they or their team have in a property before you make an offer. In our case, if Nil Patel, a team member or an affiliate ever offers to buy a property directly, we say so in writing before you sign.
Talk to Nil about approved lenders, and let us know what you are looking for.
